PARAPHENALIA

Finan carries a bag of wonders in his journeys and in this bag are the means to craft and use wondrous potions, charms and runes that help in his quest across the world.

  • THE BOUND RUNES

These tools can be made from the earth themselves, from rock or any natural produced material, as long as they are also etched with celtic runes. These defensive runes give the desired effect: sense warning, drawn luck, druidic shield, illusion warding, magic wards, demon exorcism, bind spirit and life energy. The bound runes eventually lose their luster and must be remade.

  • CHARMS OF BONE

These charms are specifically made from bone and are mainly used as offensive tools. Just like runes, these must have specific runes embedded on it's surface. These have a one-time use because they must be snapped in order to be used. These charms have the desired effect: influence minds, clairvoyance, spark explosion, druidic teleportation and enhanced strength, druidic form. Many of these can have adverse affects, like a momentary lapse of intense emotion or a nose bleed.

  • PERFUME STATION

The perfume station is a small utility fixed within his bag that allows Finan to use the earthly resources, such as plants to craft herbal decoctions such as: ironskin, frenzy, stamina, strength, tissue regeneration, magical attunement, higher green attunement.

BACKSTORY

Who is Finan O'Connor?Mainly, a druid and secondly, a traveler.Finan O'Connor was born to two witless parents, one carrying the blood of the Tuatha Dé Danann, a race of demi-gods from the histories of Ireland and long thought to be no less than tales, myths. The third High King of Ireland, Lugh and leader of the Tuatha Dé Danann fought the demonic fomorian tyrant, Baelor. Despite his bloodline, Lugh creates the Shield of Lugh to battle the fomorians and any force that would threaten his beloved Eire from then on.As one with the blood of Lugh, a far distant descendant, Finan was whisked away as a babe by the druids of the Shield to train and learn their ways. To battle the future threats of the world.Finan was not a good student even from a young age, too eager to find what was beyond their hovels and intricate underground system of living. Often it was that he caused disruption and with little to no friends at his side, the young Finan found himself serving his sentences with the druids on a daily time.He wasn't special however, he was simply just as alone as the rest of the children of the druidic coven. They all were similar in that way.Pale skin and red hair, they had to work at becoming an individual rather than becoming a faceless fighter behind the shield. In the Shield, only few wished to venture the world and see it's glory. Not many return to the coven, many seek to become Ireland's defender whilst Finan? He would see the world in all of it's splendor. Not just to fight but to live, love and love again.

  • the shield of lugh

A long time before Finan's birth there was the birth of Lugh who quickly became a warrior in his own right though was whisked away as a babe by his true father...Lugh is the son to Cian and Ethinu.Cian, the member of a prestigious race and Ethinu, the member of a monstrous race. Their pairing brought great peace between the previous warring races and as Ethinu's father, Baelor, grew more and more paranoid due to a prophecy told by druids... that his grandson would kill him. That is why Cian sent him away and when Baelor the Formorian's paranoia grew out of control and began poisoning all around him with his terrible eye, Lugh returned as the avenging son of Ireland, shooting his grandfather's eye from out of the back of his head. After the battle of Mag Tuireadh, Lugh bands the shields of Ireland behind it's staunchest protector, himself. Druids and fighters together act as it's shields against invading forces of any kind, even the monstrous formorians.

  • THE RIFT

When the time of the Tuatha Dé Danann came to pass they made the voyage to Tír na nÓg, an island paradise where life is everlasting. Essentially it is a heaven for those of the blood of the old race of Ireland.Between that astral island and the real world lies the Rift, an endless murky sea, where the Shield of Lugh's practitioners meditate and learn... although this rift, supposedly endless, truly hides a formorian at it's base. This entity is never mentioned in any textbook. It is only High Druid Baracha, Leader of the Shield of Lugh that has seen the entity... known as Mother Nature.

ABILITIES

  • MAGIcks

Finan's magical knowledge stems from the books he skimmed as a student of the Druids. As traveling was his chosen discipline, he was given choice to learn a variety of natural bases as his mastery. He chose the way of fire. Many chose water, air, stone or the plant-life itself.Fire is destructive and Finan figured it would suit him well as he did his traveling, in pursuit of knowledge to return to the coven with.

  • GREEN ATTUNEMENT

With his blood of demi-gods and the teachings of the Shield of Lugh, Finan and the other students of the shield are inherently connected to the green and it's power although it is faint as their blood has been tainted over the years, they can still listen to the grass' whispers and the wisdom of long-standing trees and can even, with the help of charms, use the roots of the earth to 'teleport' to other patches of grass although this process is incredibly hard to do and is specifically said to be used in the most dire of circumstances... many of the green's power are labeled this way.The Green is nothing to take lightly.

  • FAYE SUMMON

Their natural attunement to the astral planes grants the Shield of Lugh practitioners the ability to summon a variety of fayes and as children, as they are rather lonely, are assigned fairies as companions in their lonesome path.Finan has this ability and his faye, Gráinne. Her personality is as fiery as his chosen element.
